MAYVILLE – Rose L. Cotter, 86, of 1118 Horicon St. Mayville, died on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday Oct. 23, at 3 p.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Mayville. The Rev. Geoffrey Hoy will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Mayville. Friends may call on Thursday, from 1 to 3 p.m., at the church.
Rose was born on Aug. 30, 1922, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Schmeling) Krieser. She was married to Leland Cotter on May 6, 1950 in Milwaukee.
Rose was a graduate of Mayville High School and a graduate of Dodge County Teachers College. She taught for two years. She was employed by Wisconsin Bell Telephone Co. and the Mayville News. She was a longtime active member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville, was an active member and past treasurer of the Mayville Senior Center. Rose enjoyed dancing, puzzles, bingo and Yahtzee.
Survivors include three children, William (Bea) Cotter, Mayville, Richard (Deanne) Cotter, Silverdale, Wash., and Carol (Neil) Wilke, Baraboo; longtime special friend, Ozzie Vollmer, Mayville; special friend, Gladys (Warren) Mildbrandt; grandchildren, Tanya (Dean) Wells, Tracy (DJ) Legas, Brock (Kelly) Cotter, David Cotter, and Mickey Cotter; great-grandchildren, Aiden and Earret Wells, Cody and Cole Legas, and Annaliese and Owen Cotter; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leland, in 1973; one son, Christopher, in 1992; two sisters, Esther and Ruth, and five brothers, Armond, Milton, Vernon, Edward and Hank.
