Sheila Rae DaValt, 78, of Beaver Dam joined the angels in heaven on Tuesday, August 15, 2023.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. A Celebration of Life for Sheila will begin at 12:30 p.m. with Celebrant John R. Leiting officiating. Burial service will be private for the family at Randolph Cemetery.
Sheila was born on Dec. 17, 1944 in Milwaukee. She was the daughter of Walter and Helen (Hopkins) Witthun of Fox Lake, where she was raised and educated.
Sheila embraced and relished life to the fullest. She enjoyed movies, animals, a lover of music, an avid reader, adult coloring, her five grandchildren and celebrations with friends and family. She shared her gifts freely, touching the lives and hearts of many people throughout her life.
In her active life she was a graduate of Waupun High School, a student and graduate of MPTI in Fond du Lac, a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, past deacon of the church, a member and officer of the Fox Lake Junior Women’s Club, an Emergency Medical Technician with the Fox Lake Fire Department for 9 years, a member of the Dodge County Humane Society, owned and operated a successful grocery business, owned and operated a paint and wallpaper business in Beaver Dam, worked as a garden/lawn consultant for Jung Garden Center, managed a 12 unit apartment building for 30 plus years and was employed for 14 years as a death investigator with the Dodge County Medical Examiner’s Office, retiring in 2014.
Sheila will be mourned and missed by her children: Randy Ruenger of Randolph, Brad Ruenger of Fox Lake and Jill (Terry) Cullen of Nekoosa; dear brother Tom Witthun of Neenah; five very special grandchildren: Amber Rae (Artie) Bosley, Brock Ruenger, Jordan Ruenger, Courtney (Matt) Berg and Connor Cullen; step son Brian DaValt; and her beloved faithful canine companion, Meggie.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John on November 15, 2017, her parents Walter and Helen, and her beloved sister-in-law Mary Witthun.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Sheila’s name may be directed to the Dodge County Humane Society.
