Shirley Ann (Maas) Winter, age 78, of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Marshfield Medical Center in Beaver Dam.
Shirley Ann was born on October 21, 1946, the daughter of Carl and Gertrude Maas in Waupun, Wisconsin. She graduated from Waupun High School in 1964. Shirley was united in marriage to her loving husband of 58 years, Alan Winter, on February 12, 1967.
Throughout her life Shirley was a faithful member of St. Stephen’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam WI. She was employed by Weyenberg Shoe Company in Beaver Dam. In 1988, the family moved to Lewiston, Maine where she was employed by the Falcon Shoe Company. In the early 2000’s, Alan and Shirley moved back to Beaver Dam after their granddaughter Alison Winter was born. Shirley loved to cook and bake. Before retiring in 2003, she worked in the bakery department at Recheck’s Food Pride and at Piggly Wiggly, both in Beaver Dam. Shirley was an avid golfer and a member at the Beaver Dam Country Club where she was part of the women’s golf league for years. She also had her first career hole in one at that course.
Shirley was past president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Beaver Dam and in Lisbon Maine for many years. Shirley loved sports and enjoyed watching the Brewers, Badgers, Bucks, and Packers.
Shirley is survived by her loving husband, Alan Winter of Beaver Dam; her son, Kyle Winter of Beaver Dam; her brother, Larry (Mary) Maas of Sturgeon Bay; her granddaughter, Allison Winter of Fond du Lac; and her nephews, Todd (Chris) Maas, Tyler (Ashley) Maas, and Jason (Sheila) Winter. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Gertrude Maas; and two sons, Ron Sturtz and Kevin Winter.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
If desired, memorials may be made in Shirley Winter’s name to St. Stephen’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.
