Shirley M. Knudson, 90, of Columbus passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at her home.
Shirley was born the daughter of Christian and Josephine (Paepke) Von Behren on December 12, 1931 at her family’s home outside of Sauk City, WI. She was a graduate of Sauk City High School. Shirley was married to Edwin C. Knudson on June 27, 1953 in Sauk City. Shirley began her working career as plant secretary for Oscar Mayer in Madison. She later became the Zion Lutheran church and school secretary. Shirley retired from First National Bank in Columbus as an Assistant Vice President after many years of service.
Shirley was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Columbus where she was active with the Ladies Aid. She also was a member of the local Homemakers group. She volunteered her time with the Columbus Community Hospital and was a longtime blood donor. Shirley enjoyed golfing and motorcycle rides with her husband Edwin. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life.
Shirley is survived by her children: Linda Knudson Lind of Chattanooga, TN and Ronald (Susan) Knudson of Sun Prairie; four grandchildren: Rebecca (Eric) Brooks, Jackie (Jamie) Price, Kasey (Steve) Bader, and Jamie (Eric) Knudson Weigen; eight great grandchildren: Kaylee, Gavin, James, Lilly, Rickey, Edward, Ruby, and Willow; her brother Rod (Jackie) Von Behren of Waunakee; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Edwin in 2019; brothers: Lyle, Alan, and Dale; and her sister Joan.
A private funeral service will be held at the Koepsell-Zeidler Funeral Home in Columbus. Interment will take place at Spring Prairie Lutheran Cemetery, Keyeser, WI.
