Shirley was born on May 28, 1931, the daughter of Edwin and Ida (Zingler) Belling. On May 2, 1953, Shirley was united in marriage to the love of her life, Wilmer Wellhoefer, at St. Lukes Ev. Lutheran Church in Knowles.
Shirley was a longtime employee of Piggly Wiggly in Mayville, where she became a familiar and friendly face to many in the community. She also worked at the Dodge County Pionier. Shirley was a faithful member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kekoskee, where her faith was an important part of her life.
Shirley found joy in the simple things in life. She loved canning and baking, and she took great pleasure in putting together puzzles, taking walks, and playing cards. She especially treasured the time she spent with the people she loved.
Family was the most important part of Shirley’s life. She cherished every opportunity to gather with her family, share stories and laughter, and make memories together. Her warmth, kindness, and love will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Shirley leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, faith, family, and treasured memories. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
Shirley is survived by her sons Ronald Wellhoefer of Mayville and Randal (Jodi) Wellhoefer of Oshkosh; her grandchildren Austin and Randi Wellhoefer; her sister-in-law Betty Jane Belling; as well as other relatives and dear friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband Wilmer in 2019; three brothers: Freeman, Garland “Jack”, and Gordon; and her sister Audrey.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Prairie Ridge Assisted Living and Generations Hospice for the compassionate care, kindness, and comfort they provided to Shirley during the final days of her life.
