Suzanne Marie Metzdorf, age 59, of Horicon, died on June 23, 2006 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
The former Suzanne Marie Schindel was born on December 15, 1946 in Beaver Dam, to the late LeRoy and Ruth (Niehoff) Schindel. She married Wayne Metzdorf on October 14, 1967. Sue was employed at Gardner Manufacturing for five years and John Deere Horicon Works for 27 years, retiring in 2002. She was an active member of St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church , serving on the Stewardship Committee. She also was a volunteer with the kindergarten children at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran School. She was an avid golfer and held numerous offices on the ladies golf league. She loved to travel with her husband; most recently to the Panama Canal. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her daughters, grandson and her sisters.
Sue is survived by her husband, Wayne Metzdorf of Horicon; two daughters, Lisa (Kelly) Bunkoske of Beaver Dam and Krista Metzdorf of Madison; her grandson, Tyler Bunkoske; her two sisters, Linda (Gordon) Cook of Rhinelander and Nancy (Bill) Phelps of Fox Lake; her brother Fred Schindel; her father-in-law, Clarence Metzdorf of Mayville; sister-in-law, Carol (Bumpy) Schaefer of Neshkoro; Brother-in-law, Ken (Linda) Metzdorf of Horicon, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Sue is preceded in death by her parents; her mother-in-law, Sally Metzdorf and one brother-in-law, Don Bischoff
Friends and family may call on Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at the Murray Funeral Home in Horicon from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on Wednesday, at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. The Funeral Service will be Held on Wednesday, June 28, 2006, at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church in Horicon at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Daniel Seehafer officiating. Burial will be in Oakhill Cemetery.
The family of Suzanne Metzdorf would like to thank Dr. Cody and the staff at Beaver Dam Community Hospital and Hillside Manor for their care that was given to her.
The family suggests that memorials be made in Suzanne Metzdorf”s name to St. Stephen Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
