Terrance (Terry) R Murphy, (83), of Reeseville, WI, formerly of Des Plaines, IL, passed away on June 15, 2026.
Terry was born on November 2, 1942, to George and Irene Murphy of Chicago, IL. He earned a BA at Loras College in Dubuque, IA, where he met his future wife, Regina Grieco. They married in 1968 and had 5 children: Susan, Daniel, Kathryn, Joseph and Ann, followed by grandchildren Ross (Katie), and Easter and Nicholas (Dan). Terry was a devout Roman Catholic who loved children and was devoted to his family. He worked long hours and multiple jobs to provide for them. He taught Art and sometimes US History at Golf Junior High and Heinz Elementary in Morton Grove, Illinois, for over 30 years. He also drove a school bus for the district; and he pursued various summer jobs – one summer he worked as a security guard at Wrigley Field.
Dad always enjoyed the movies of the 1930s and ‘40s and loved to share his favorites and his obscure movie knowledge. He faithfully rooted for the Chicago Cubs and Bears but was graciously happy for his neighbors when the Packers won (against other teams). It is to be noted, however, that there are no popes from Green Bay.
Terry and Regina gave generously of their time and money to charity, and especially to pro-life efforts, and the Society of St Vincent DePaul, in which they participated at St Zachary’s in Des Plaines, IL and at Holy Family in Reeseville. Terry was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 12677, based in Reeseville.
Terry is survived by his 5 children, 3 grandchildren, brother and sister-in-law Tom and Rocky Grieco (née Kasmiskie, originally of Beaver Dam), and 18 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Regina, brothers, George and Tom, and daughter-in-law Francina Hester (Dan).
Visitation Thurs. June 18, 4-7pm and Funeral June 19 11am at Holy Family Catholic Church, Reeseville, WI.
Interment and luncheon to follow at St. Columbkille, Elba, WI.
