Vaughn Lee Braun, age 77, of Juneau, was surrounded by his beloved family when he was called to Heaven on March 24, 2023.
Vaughn had a love for life and his family and will be remembered long after his passing. The memorial gathering will be held at Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m. with Fr. Mike Tess officiating and military honors will be held immediately after the service.
Vaughn was born on November 25, 1945, in Horicon, son of Clarence and Martha (Parpart) Braun, Sr. Vaughn graduated from Juneau High School in 1965. Following graduation, he served with the U.S. Army as a combat medic and paratrooper in Vietnam. He served his country from January, 1966, until October, 1967. Vaughn had a 35-year career with John Deere Horicon Works, where he made many friends and contributed to innovations that increased the company’s efficiency.
Vaughn was a family man and was blessed with a strong and loving wife of 54 ½ years, Judy Braun. He was the father of three amazing children. His four grandkids were the apple of his eye and he was the glue that held his family together.
Vaughn had a passion for farming and the outdoors. He worked hard to maintain a beautiful home and farm. In 2001, he established what has become the very popular Braun Family Farm Pumpkin Patch. He taught his grandkids how to care for the land so the pumpkin harvest would be plentiful.
Vaughn was a doting father and grandfather and always put the care of his family ahead of his own.
Vaughn is survived by his wife, Judy of Juneau; his children, Kristine (Robert) Pethick of Puerto Rico, William Vaughn Braun of Plover and Mark Lee (Kimberly) Braun of Juneau. His grandchildren, Zachary, Emily, Shaun and Benjamin Braun; his siblings, Jan Helmer of Beaver Dam, Charlene Selsing and Pam Braun of Harford, Lila Bahls of Beaver Dam, Darryl Braun of Beaver Dam and Norman (Jean) Braun of Friendship.
Vaughn is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Sr. and Marth Braun; his siblings, Clarence Jr., John, Thomas, Dwayne, Dan and Charles Braun; sisters, Donna Jenson, Dawn Wehner and Virginia Braun.
Memorials may be made in Vaughn Braun’s name to Rainbow Hospice in Johnson Creek or The Mission Continues; a veterans’ based community service organization.
