Vera A. Flasch

Vera A. Flasch, age 98, of Beaver Dam, died Sunday, April 1, 2007 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.

Friends and family may call at the Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Tuesday, April 3, 2007, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and again at St. Katharine Drexel Church, 511 South Spring Street in Beaver Dam, on Wednesday, April 4, 2007, from 9:00 AM until the time of Mass. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 4, 2007, at 10:00 AM. Fr. John Schreiter will officiate. Burial will be at St. Isadore Cemetery in the Town of Clyman, Dodge County, Wisconsin.

The former Vera A. Schultz was born on March 4, 1909, in Appleton, Wisconsin to the late Adolph J. and Inez A. (Styche) Schultz. She graduated from Green Bay West High School in 1927 and earned degrees from UW Oshkosh in 1929 and 1962. She was elected to the Gamma Chapter of the Phi Beta Sigma Honor Society in 1963. On June 14, 1941, Vera was united in marriage with Alois W. Flasch, at St. Patrick”s Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. They made their home on the Flasch farm on Hogsback Road in the Town of Clyman. He preceded her in death on January 12, 1958. Vera was a devoted teacher. She taught primary grades at Roundout, IL, from 1929 to 1935, at Lomira Rural Leader School from 1936 to 1937 and at Lowell Elementary School from 1937 to 1941. While farming with her husband, Vera returned to teaching in Lowell in 1956 and taught there until her retirement in 1974. After retiring in 1974, she moved to Beaver Dam and did volunteer teaching for many years. She was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish and had previously been active in the St. Peter”s Christian Mothers.

Survivors include her four children; Dolores (Daniel) Lynch of Oshkosh, David (Susan) Flasch of Fox Lake, Robert (Carla) Flasch of Champion, MI. and Barbara (Andre) Zuehls of Beaver Dam, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1958, an infant granddaughter, and a sister, Elsie Spellman.

I had your Mom for a teacher in 1967-68 She was as I remember a very strict teacher and oh how we need more like her in the school system now a days. My father was down the hall from her at the manor and I had the chance to talk to her a few times there she remembered me, I don''t know if that was a good thing or not but the Rennhack''s are a rowdy bunch!
