William “Dub” Brashear, age 69, died on Saturday, December 1, 2007 at the William S. Middleton Memorial VA Hospital.
Friends and family may gather on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at the Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. On Friday, December 7, 2007, friends and family may call at the funeral home from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home on Friday beginning at 11:00 AM. Rev. Gary Zacharias will officiate. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
William Curtis Brashear was born on March 31, 1938 to the late Curtis and Jewel (Box) Brashear in Bartlett, Texas. On June 4, 1966 he was united in marriage with Judy Wendling in Las Vegas, Nevada. Dub was an award winning artist in high school with his many cartoon drawings. He served as an MP in the Marine Corp in Okinawa and Japan. When he returned home, he tried many different occupations and found that he was a natural at masonry. He designed fireplaces for several homes. Dub was also a foreman for “big” jobs in several states for construction companies which include places such as Ho Chunk, Wisconsin prisons and sewer plants. He spent time volunteering as a Reserve Deputy in Arizona on the Search and Rescue team. Dub liked to carve gun stocks and figurines and had made over 250 of them. Dub was a willing teacher to anyone who needed a helping 5467hand. He enjoyed gardening and had built three ponds at his home. Dub was an avid hunter and fisherman and he enjoyed camping and watching the wildlife around his home. He never missed the daily board meeting at Mr. B”s. Most of all, Dub was a wonderful grandfather and he loved spending time with his grandson.
Dub is survived by his wife of 41 years, Judy Brashear of Fox Lake, his daughter, Rebecca Malchek of Beaver Dam, a grandson, Jordan Malchek, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his two sons, William Curtis Brashear and Rudy Brashear, his son-in-law, Jason Anton Malchek, Sr. and a grandson, Jason Anton Malchek, Jr.
