William Shelton, born on July 2nd, 1941, and raised in Eudora, Arkansas. He passed away on May 7th, 2026, in West Bend, Wisconsin with his daughters by his side.
He graduated from Eudora High School in 1960, where he competed in both football and track — passions that shaped his drive, discipline, and love for athletics throughout his life.
He married Sandy Pershsa, the love of his life, on October 21st, 1995, celebrating their union at the Mayville Park Pavilion. Together, they built a beautiful life and breathtaking gardens at their home in Mayville, Wisconsin.
As semi drivers for Kreilkamp Trucking, he and Sandy spent countless miles on the road with their loyal dog, Trucker. Those long hauls — just the three of them, the open highway, and the steady hum of the engine — became some of their most cherished memories. On the road, he was known as “Nickel Bill,” a name earned through grit, dedication, and an unmistakable presence behind the wheel.
A proud Trans Am enthusiast; he never missed a chance to admire a show car or talk horsepower with anyone who shared the passion.
For several years, he poured his love of athletics into coaching as a relay track assistant for the Washington County Homeschool Association, proudly supporting the grandchildren who ran under his guidance.
William is survived by his daughters and loved siblings: Billie Rathke (Bryan Rathke), Shelly Shelton (Bailey), James Shelton (wife Gail), and Marie Shelton McKaurin.
He was preceded in death by his loving siblings: Joe Robert Shelton and Lewis Shelton.
He leaves behind a legacy carried on by 17 grandchildren and 58 great grandchildren, each one a testament to the family he built, loved, and cherished.
Bill will be remembered for his strength, his stories, and his love for the wide-open road.
A Celebration of Life will be held at
Elderberry Manor,
5113 County Rd M, West Bend, WI 53095,
on July 2nd at 6:00 PM.
Semis and show cars are encouraged — a tribute he would have absolutely loved.
A second memorial will take place in Eudora, Arkansas in November, with the date to be announced.
